Antiquing in Cabarrus

While some consider Cabarrus County a hidden treasure in itself, most don’t realize the secret gems waiting to be discovered on an antiquing adventure! With shops sprinkled on and off the beaten path, this area is a must-see in North Carolina’s antique scene.

Follow this picking pro’s guide to Cabarrus County for tips on making the most of your antiquing time.

Day 1: The Depot & Downtown

The Depot at Gibson Mill

The Depot at Gibson Mill is sitting pretty on 88,000 square feet and claims to offer the “Best Crap in the South.”

Named after local roads, the aisles are filled with unique finds from over 600 vendors. After browsing, be sure to refuel at Ellie’s Diner inside The Depot for a fast and fresh meal. Trust us — you’ll need energy for the adventure ahead!

After tucking the last of your haul into the trunk, celebrate a successful day with cold craft beers. High Branch Brewing and Cabarrus Brewing Co. are also part of Gibson Mill, located right alongside The Depot.

Just as your collectibles preserve the past, Historic Downtown Concord will bring a little nostalgia to your visit. Minutes from Gibson Mill, enjoy more local shopping, dinner, and dessert along quaint Union Street.

Day 2: A Scenic Drive to Storied Finds

Get the morning started right with breakfast at local favorite, Punchy’s Diner. This family-friendly, 50’s styled spot serves homemade meals, desserts and ice cream straight from the Old Fashioned American Diner. After fueling up, take a drive and hit these antique hot spots.

Ruffin’s Roost

At White Owl Antique Mall and Design Center, you’ll find hundreds of vendors with one-of-a-kind gems such as antiques, collectibles, vintage items, new and vintage art, furniture, pottery, handmade soaps, designer clothing, jewelry, crafts and more. With over 100,000 square feet of goodies to grab your attention, you could stay all day.

Pack up your precious new possessions and head to the next stop!

Inside the 100-year-old Harness Shop, Ruffin’s Roost specializes in antiques, urban farmhouse and cottage chic décor, as well as handmade vintage romantic clothing. With over 30 years of experience in this business, the Ruffins have gathered a rich and varied assortment of amazing home décor inside the big white barn.

We saved the largest for last! Cline’s Country Antiques, is an outdoor antiquing spot where acres of treasures cover the Carolina countryside and beg to be rummaged through.

The Avett Brothers, Grammy-nominated Americana band from Concord, NC, filmed the music video for the hit “February Seven” at this sprawling antique yard. Check it out below!

Pro Tips for Pickin’ in Cabarrus:

  1. Wear comfy shoes. Your antique adventure will include a lot of walking! Cabarrus is home to some of the largest antique malls in the southeastern United States.
  2. Brainstorm before. Looking for a specific treasure? Write it down to stay on track. Inside each vintage venue, you’ll find hundreds of vendors and goodies in every corner.
  3. Get to know the history. Just like the unique items you’ll find inside them, many of the buildings that house these impressive treasure troves also have a story.
  4. Take the road less traveled. Backroads in Cabarrus often lead to the best places to pick. Get lost on a rural road, and you’re likely to return with a load of fantastic finds.
