Whether you want to see a major motorsports event at Charlotte Motor Speedway, watch up-and-coming drivers battle it out, admire classic cars and hot rods, or take part in other unique racing activities, Cabarrus County is waving the green flag on fast-paced spring and summer fun for the whole family.
For the inside track on the hottest 2022 races and other NASCAR-related events in town, add these premier motorsports events to your calendar.
Thousands of classic cars, customs and hot rods will be on display in the infield at Charlotte Motor Speedway during the Charlotte AutoFair. The annual motorsports event includes collectible cars for sale, car club displays, vendors and lots of family-friendly activities.
The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Four-Wide Nationals is the signature event held at zMAX Dragway. Drivers compete in six classes of racing events on the first four-lane, all-concrete drag strip in the world. This thrilling event quadruples the action to reach a combined total of 44,000 horsepower thundering down the dragway.
Tickets to the event include pit passes and access to NHRA drivers and their cars. Spend a day at the “Bellagio of Drag Strips” or stay for the weekend. Weekend passes include three days of fast-paced action; trackside camping is also available.
The Colossal 100 racing series returns to The Dirt Track for the first time in more than a decade and features four days of races headlined by the Super Late Model series. Grandstand seating is general admission, or fans can get a front-row seat to motorsports racing action by purchasing pit passes.
The stars of the NASAR Camping World Truck Series return to take on Charlotte Motor Speedway during the North Carolina Education Lottery 200. Cheer on the trucks as they race 200 miles around the racetrack, then stick around for more excitement — all tickets include admission to the ARCA Menards Series General Tire 150. Plus, kids 12 and under get in free with an adult, making it the perfect North Carolina auto racing event for the whole family.
The Alsco Uniforms 300 pits NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers against NASCAR Cup Series superstars in this “showcase of speed” at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Check out the practice and qualifying events, then root for your favorite driver during the 300-lap race. Kids 12 and under also get in free to this event.
The Coca-Cola 600 is a crown jewel of the NASCAR season and one of the most popular events held annually at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This year marks the 63rd running of the historic race. NASCAR Hall-of-Famers like Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon have all navigated the 24-degree banking turns at top speeds to take the checkered flag. Before the 600-mile race begins, this Memorial Day weekend event features a pre-race concert from country music superstar Chris Janson, a moving military salute with demonstration from Fort Bragg and performances by the 82nd Airborne Chorus.
The next generation of NASCAR drivers get behind the wheel during the Summer Shootout events at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Top NASCAR drivers like Bubba Wallace, Austin Dillon, Joey Logano and Chase Elliott are among the drivers who got their start in the Summer Shootout series.
The annual eight-week auto racing series showcases drivers in the pro and semi-pro divisions driving Legend cars and Bandoleros on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval track in hopes of driving to victory lane and becoming the series champion. The summertime motorsports event also includes driver interactions, interactive games and activities for fans of all ages.
In August, action returns to The Dirt Track and closes out summer excitement at Charlotte Motor Speedway in a big way! The Circle K Monster Truck Bash features a night of 2,000-horsepower, metal-mashing machines. Bring your entire crew to watch these impressive monster trucks navigate the diabolical course. Kids are admitted for just $10 with an adult at this family-favorite event.
The Charlotte Motor Speedway Fan Zone hosts the Cars and Coffee Concord cruise-in on the third Saturday of each month. Show off your classics, customs and hot rods or check out the amazing rides on display.
If your need for speed can’t be satisfied as a spectator, Cabarrus County offers plenty of adrenaline-fueled activities to supplement these awesome motorsports events. Take a lap around the legendary superspeedway with the NASCAR Racing Experience or challenge your friends to go-kart races at K1 Speed and The Speedpark at Concord Mills.
Then, slow the pace and finish your race strong by exploring motorsports memorabilia inside the Curb Motorsports Museum, Morrison Motor Car Museum and/or RFK Racing Museum.
