Fast Cars
Charlotte Motor Speedway, home to NASCAR, IROC, IRL, World Karting and Legends racing, holds major races in May and October. Both Charlotte Motor Speedway and Concord Motorsport Park offer NASCAR weekly racing series for stock cars and Legends and Bandolero racing April through October. Exciting tours and visits to area race shops and motorsports museums are available all year round. In Cannon Village in Kannapolis (Dale Earnhardt’s hometown), race fans can tour landmarks along The Dale Trail™ and pay respects to the NASCAR legend at the Dale Earnhardt Tribute with its larger-than-life statue, granite memorial and Sam Bass art exhibit.
Most Popular Shopping Destination
Concord Mills Mall, the shopping entertainment destination of the Carolinas and most popular visitor attraction in North Carolina, features over 200 stores including manufacturer and retail outlets and interactive stores like Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, Sun & Ski and Build-A-Bear. Other popular shopping destinations include Cannon Village with its Colonial-era ambiance, Carolina Mall and Historic Downtown Concord.
First Gold Discovery
At Reed Gold Mine, where young Conrad Reed made the first gold discovery in America in 1799, visitors can tour underground tunnels, pan for gold and watch an ore-crushing stamp mill in action. Other historical attractions include Bost Grist Mill and Historic Downtown Concord’s Shopping District and Memorial Gardens.
Full-Tilt Family Entertainment NASCAR
The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class "A" Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, play 70 home games from April through September. Minor League champion Carolina Eagles football team plays up to 10 home games in the fall. Dave & Buster's Sports Cafe, a totally unique dining and entertainment complex, is a virtual playground for families, kids and kids at heart.
